The Seattle office volunteered with Food Lifeline this past Wednesday after work. Located in Western Washington, Food Lifeline collects food and provides meals to those in need while working hard to provide a long-term, regional solution to hunger. Nearly 40 percent of unpurchased or unused food in the United States ends up in landfills every year, so Food Lifeline rescues millions of pounds of (still fresh) surplus food that would otherwise be discarded from farmers, manufacturers, grocery stores and restaurants so that it can be used to feed the hungry. The 20 IG members processed 5,200 servings that were sorted and packaged into 214 meals for the homeless. “This was a great way to spend some quality time together outside of the office and help a great cause,” Justine Date, Sales Manager. “We definitely want to continue supporting Food Lifeline in years to come.
