Jacksonville Participates in the Annual Best Buddies Friendship Walk

The Jacksonville office participated in the annual Best Buddies Friendship Walk at SeaWalk Pavilion. Best Buddies International is a nonprofit organization that has dedicated itself to establishing a global volunteer movement to create one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, and leadership development for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). The Best Buddies community is comprised of people with Down Syndrome, Autism, Fragile X, Williams Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Traumatic Brain Injury and other diagnosed disabilities.  It is the world’s largest non-profit organization dedicated to ending the social, physical and economic isolation for those with IDD. The Jacksonville team had 20 members that participated in the walk alongside a buddy, and raised over $500 for the organization. “The Best Buddies Friendship Walk was a great opportunity for us to interact with so many of the individuals involved in the organization,” said Wesley Etheredge, Lead Recruiter. “It gave us a chance to learn about their stories and how the organization has helped them prevail even with their disabilities. You can really see firsthand the difference you can make by being there to support them and promote friendship for everyone.”
